Visualise your data on a map : how to create a map with Google My Maps In-Person

In this hands-on workshop you’ll learn how to create a map, customise and share your map, import and visualise your data on a map, illustrate and communicate information by displaying it on a map.  

With the right location data you can create maps which show:  Buildings, structures or organisations, features in the landscape, routes between points, occurrences of disease outbreaks, sites of traffic accidents, weather related events, places mentioned in fiction, poetry, oral history, etc.

To use this product you MUST have a Google Account. 

 

Attendance at this workshop / presentation may satisfy the CPD requirements of some professional bodies; a certificate of completion can be supplied upon request.

 

Objectives

By the end of the session you will: 

Have learned how to create, customise and share a map

Be able to illustrate and communicate information by displaying it on a map

Know how to import and visualise your data on a map

Add photos to your map

Print a map or save it as a pdf, or embed it on a website

 

Who should attend?

This course will be of interest to academic staff and researchers in any relevant discipline. No prior experience with these tools is required and no advance preparation for this workshop is necessary.
