Sharing Your Research Interests Through Blogging

Overview

This is a practical, hands-on workshop exploring the use of a WordPress blog for informal research communication with colleagues and peers. In the workshop you will learn how best to blog about your own research interests and exchange ideas with your fellow researchers.

The workshop consists of two sessions with practical activities in between. The first session lasts for two hours. In it, you will discover how some academics and research students use blogs, set up your own blog and practice blogging.  This includes writing a blog post, linking to other blogs of interest and adding comments.  Following the first session, participants should start their own blog.  In the second workshop, we review the blogging practice and discuss security and blog administration.  It lasts for one hour and will take place a week later. Participants are encouraged to attend both workshops.

No prior experience with WordPress is necessary.
